From Verification to Optimization
Construction of a showroom structure was already underway when the client approached us for an independent review of the structural design prepared by another consultancy. Since the foundation phase had already been completed, the challenge was to verify the structural scheme and ensure that the remaining construction could proceed with confidence.
Rather than limiting our involvement to a design check, we took a comprehensive approach. Our team re-modelled the structure, carried out structural analysis, redesigned the members, developed reinforcement detailing, and prepared the required structural documentation.
The analysis revealed significant opportunities for structural optimization. Through careful member sizing, reinforcement optimization, and efficient structural detailing, we developed a solution that maintained the required structural performance while substantially reducing unnecessary steel consumption.
The Result
The optimized design resulted in an estimated saving of approximately 26 tons of reinforcement steel, translating to a cost saving of around PKR 6 million based on the project estimate.
More importantly, the project demonstrated the value of an independent structural review—not simply as a compliance exercise, but as an opportunity to identify inefficiencies, optimize material usage, and improve the overall economy of construction.
